This week’s episode of the WOLF pod, I am joined by a long-time FinTwit fav of mine, Brian Feroldi (@BrianFeroldi). Brian is probably the biggest stock market nerd I’ve ever met who loves putting hours and hours of research into picking his own stocks correctly. Brian isn’t interested in the short-term, rather is devoted to finding businesses he believes in that will reap long-term rewards. Despite going to business school, Brian didn’t learn anything about investing or stocks formally. His dad gave him the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” book as a graduation gift and Brian was instantly hooked. This book was his first intro to money and investing concepts that helped launch his love affair with the finance world. Getting off to a rocky start with stocks, making every rookie mistake in the book, Brian eventually found the Motley Fool. They taught him to think long-term and buy into higher-quality business. Then his dream job – becoming a Motley Fool writer – fell into his lap. Now, he’s been writing for them for 7 years. Taking his finance knowledge and writing experience, he began writing a book. While also building his audience through his social media following after realizing that social media provides brand growth and monetization opportunities. We discussed everything about his mindset on day trading vs. long term investing, why he loves individual stock ownership, how often he checks and re-examines individual holds, and why he finds the business of investing to be the most fascinating game he ever found in his life.
